| Frequently Asked Questions | Home |
What does it cost to use?
Nothing.
Why should I register?
When you register, you enter the city or town where you live. This allows the search function to conveniently show you photos from your area.
What areas are covered?
All areas are covered. If you enter a suburb which is not on record, it is added to the database. After a short delay, CaughtOnline will add the geographic location of the suburb (this enables the 'within km' search function).
Can I see a map or satellite image of my area?
Yes, you can see both! After searching within a suburb which has a geographic location, you will see a link 'Show map of...'.
What about my privacy?
None of your personal details will be given to any third party, ever.
What file formats are accepted?
The best format to use is JPEG, also sometimes called JPG. All modern digital cameras and phonecams support the JPEG format. Other formats may also be accepted.
Should I resize photos before uploading?
It is not necessary, although users with slow internet connections will find this speeds up the upload. After upload, the system automatically resizes photographs to an approriate size (max. of 1024x1024). For jpeg files you upload from a digital camera, you will be able to additional information about the photo, such as the camera settings.
